RACE DAY INFO

LOCATION

When driving to the race, the final 10km involves a gravel road and a single lane suspension bridge maintained by the council which is useable by ordinary 2wd vehicles, utes and vans up to 3.5 tonnes gross. The bridge is not recommended for oversized vans or campers (it is 2.8m high and 2.1m wide). There is the option of a river ford which can be crossed by 4WD vehicles during normal river flows. The crossing is typically shallow, however, the river level can rise quickly following heavy rain.

The suspension bridge and ford cross the Mandamus River, approximately 1km from the race village. Please note, on race day the bridge will be marshalled to ensure the safe movement of vehicles.

There is ample space for vehicle parking however, we would highly recommend car pooling wherever possible.

Once onsite it is a 600-800m walk from the car park to the race village.

MANDATORY GEAR

MANDATORY GEAR

The mandatory gear list includes the absolute minimum to keep you safe during the event and in New Zealand's unpredictable weather systems. If you would normally take something extra on a run of this duration, you should still take it. As the event takes place in the New Zealand backcountry, you should be prepared for all possible weather conditions.

The course passes through remote parts of the property, where protection from the elements and access for the safety team could be timely. It is therefore imperative that all mandatory gear is carried at all times.

In line with our sustainability goals,  we are a cupless event. All athletes are required to carry their own drinking cup, bottle or hydration bladder that can be topped up at aid stations and the various creeks. Although a selection of high-energy food is provided at aid stations, we encourage you to carry food with you between aid stations.

Please note; there is no mandatory gear required for the 10km and 4k races however, we ask you carry a drinking vessel with you and always check the conditions and carry with you gear appropriate for the day alongside specific medications you may require.

GEAR CHECKS

Athletes in the 42km, 30km & 15km distances must have their mandatory gear pass a pre-race inspection. This is to be done pre-event at Athlete Registation.

There will be marshals and safety teams out on the course and all athletes should be prepared for random spot checks, which may occur at any time during the race. Any infringement may result in disqualification or removal from the event.

Athletes must carry the mandatory gear at all times during the race.

The aid stations at Skedaddle will include a selection of high-energy foods, we encourage you to make sure you train with similar foods you will be consuming on race day.
